O Vale do Jequitinhonha

é uma região que instiga meu imaginário depois de anos.

Reputada como uma das regiões mais pobres do Brasil, assolada pela seca e pela falta de atenção politica, é berço de uma obra artesanal em barro única, de peças que retratam o cotidiano e o fantástico da realidade local, usando para isso as cores da terra.

Terra de fronteira, entre rio e montanha, a meio caminho do mar, se apresenta como território ainda inexplorado e potencial, onde uma barragem fantasma instalada alhures mudou a dinâmica do vasto rio, mas não a relação dos seus habitantes com as águas douradas onde lavam, nadam, pescam e navegam.

/ JEQUITINHONHA VALLEY is a region that instigates my imagination after several years. Reputed as one of the poorest regions of Brazil, plagued by drought and lack of political attention, it is the cradle of a unique clay handcraft, featuring pieces that portray the everyday and the fantastic of the local life, using the colors of the earth. A land bordered by river and mountain, halfway to the sea, it presents itself as a territory still unexplored and potential, where a ghost dam installed elsewhere has changed the dynamics of the vast river, but not the relation of its inhabitants with the golden waters where they wash, swim, fish and sail. /

Meu anseio de saber é intermitente, 

mas meu anseio de banhar a cabeça 

em atmosferas que os pés desconhecem 

é perene e constante.

/ My yearning to know is intermittent, but my desire to bathe in atmospheres that the feet do not know is perennial and constant. /

Devíamos, andando menos, percorrer maior distância e talvez, no espírito imortal da aventura, nunca mais regressarmos para devolver os nossos corações embalsamados, como relíquias aos nossos desolados domínios.
