HOFERWEG surgiu ao longo de cinco meses de pesquisas que mudavam de direção a cada semana em função de fatores externos, mas que finalmente resultaram numa estrutura complexamente simples. Eu estaria em Praga e tinha algumas semanas livres antes de chegar a Paris onde realizaria uma residência artística. Resolvi fazer o percurso a pé. O mapa acima, comprado num sebo do centro de São Paulo, deu a chave para a definição do trajeto: era possível conectar Praga e Paris com um arco perfeito que passa por Munique e Zurique, cidades onde eu também tinha questões a investigar e assuntos a resolver.

/ HOFERWEG emerged over five months of research that changed direction each week due to external factors, but ultimately resulted in a complexly simple structure. I would be in Prague and had a few weeks off before arriving in Paris where I would performe an artistic residence. I decided to make the journey on foot. The map above, bought in a second hand bookshop gave the key to the definition of the route: it was possible to connect Prague and Paris with a perfect arch that passes through Munich and Zurich, cities where I also had questions to investigate and subjects to solve. /

A bagagem do viajante

Numa viagem deste tipo a bagagem é uma extensão do corpo, e deve ser tratada com mesma importância que dedicamos aos pés. O minimo para possibilitar a caminhada, além dos materiais de desenho necessários para realizar o objetivo do percurso: criar uma imagem panorâmica contínua que conectasse Praga, Munique, Zurique e Paris. Nenhum compromisso além desse, com as possibilidades de interromper o caminho a qualquer momento ou mudar o modo de deslocamento quando necessário.

/ Traveler's luggage  On such a trip the luggage is an extension of the body, and should be treated with the same importance as the feet. The minimum to make walking possible, in addition to the drawing materials needed to achieve the goal of the course: to create a continuous panoramic image connecting Prague, Munich, Zurich and Paris. No compromise beyond that, with the possibilities to interrupt the path at any time or change the mode of movement when necessary. /
